Sandra has put together a handy list of all the cross-country races for the 2024-25 season:
East London Runners supports the running of equal distance for Men and Women in all cross country races. While some races/leagues/counties/nations/vets have equalised distances, some have not, as yet, done so. East London Runners also respects the right of each individual Club Member to decide for themselves what races they wish to run in and we will NOT obstruct in any way a member running in a race or League that does not have equal distances. It remains the Club policy that all members will run for FREE in Cross Country Leagues that the Club are members of (e.g Chingford League and the Run Herts Sunday XC League) and the County/Regional/National races whether of equal distance or not. The Club does pay League fees on members behalf in addition to any fees for entering our County, Regional and National Championships. The views of members expressed on Facebook and other types of Social Media are considered to be of a personal nature and may differ from those of the Club expressed above.
Venue: Cassiobury Park, Watford, WD18 7LG. This race is free to all members of East London Runners. Turn up on the day to run. No pre race entry required. So that we can get an idea of numbers, please add your name to race entries, or email info@eastlondonrunners.org.uk if you are going to run. We encourage car sharing - let us know if you are able to drive, or whether you need a lift to Cassiobury Park. Important Race Information: The last race of the 2024-25 season takes place in Cassiobury Park, Watford. The start will be near the Cafe in the Park, formerly known as the Cha. This is our regular starting point. What3Words reference: honey.vast.poetic Travel by the underground brings you to Watford Metropolitan Line station, just a few minutes walk from the park. By mainline trains, Watford Junction is just over a mile away. Please note that the Overground from Euston will not be operating, but the mainline trains will run. Car parking can be found at the Avenue car park, Hempstead Road/The Avenue Roundabout, WD17 4NR, (What3Words: moss.boil.gazed) or other town centre car parks. The Gade car park is only a short walk from the park and is another good option - https://citipark.co.uk/car-parks/watford/gade-car-park Should you choose to park in the local surrounding roads, please be courteous and keep all access and driveways clear. The course will take runners across and down the park. After crossing the river and canal by bridges that have a tarmac path, the runners will proceed to Whippendell Wood. From the bottom of the hill the runners will complete 2 laps of the wood before returning up the hill and retracing steps back to the start. Trail shoes are often a good option for this race. Temporary toilets will be available at the start/finish and further loos can be found underneath Daisy's café, near the play area, down the park. We have been asked not to use the toilets in the Café in the Park, which are for café customers only. Ealing Eagles are supporting Watford Joggers, but if you have any travelling supporters that wish to volunteer there will be tasks available at the finish. Good Luck with your team’s training. Watford Joggers look forward to a good turnout at the race. Colin Taylor On behalf of Watford Joggers We are looking forward to a big turnout for this last Sunday League race of the season. Please speak John or Mike if you have any questions.
