Saturday 3rd January 2026 - Parkrun

Saturday morning parkrun.

At 9.00am FREE timed 5k runs/races at Wanstead Flats (Harrow Road), Valentines Park (Ilford), Roding Valley, Walthamstow, Barking and many other venues across London, the UK and other Countries.



Suitable for all levels from beginners to experienced runners.

Saturday 3rd January 2026 - Essex Cross Country Championships

We are taking entries into the Essex Cross Country Championships at Gloucester Park on Saturday 3rd January 2026.

Venue: Gloucester Park, Basildon SS14 3GR.
Hosted by Basildon AC.

The course will again be multi lap and reasonably challenging and for that reason we have kept the same cut off times for the senior mens' and womens' races as last year, to avoid impacting on the subsequent races/end of event.  Senior men should be able to complete the 12km course in 75 mins.  Senior women should be able to complete the 8km course in 65 mins.  Please be aware of this.

The club will pay for your entry fee, however please ensure that you are available to run on the day.

Details of parking and course maps will be shared closer to the event date.

Race 1 @ 9:45am – U11 G and B (1.5km) (for girls and boys aged 9 or 10 on 31st Aug 2025) (non-championship)
Race 2 10:00am U13G (3.1km)  (for girls aged 11 or 12 on 31st Aug 2025)
Race 3 10:20am U13B (3.1km)  (for boys aged 11 or 12 on 31st Aug 2025)
Race 4 10:40am U15G (4.3km) (for girls aged 13 or 14 on 31st Aug 2025)
Race 5 11:00am U15B (4.3km)  (for boys aged 13 or 14 on 31st Aug 2025)
Race 6 11:20am U17W (5.2km) (for women aged 15 or 16 on 31st Aug 2025)
Race 7 11:50am U17M & U20W (6.1km) (for men aged 15 or 16 and women aged 17, 18 or 19 on 31st Aug 2025)
Race 8 12:20pm Senior Women & U20M (8km) (for women aged 20 or older and men aged 17, 18 or 19 on 31st Aug 2025)
Race 9 @ 1:10pm Senior Men (12km) (for men aged 20 or older on 31st Aug 2025)

All race distances above are approximate.

All entrants must be a member of England Athletics and hold a current Athlete registration and be eligible to compete in Essex Championships (either by being born in Essex or have continually resided in Essex for the nine months prior to the event).

Team medals are 4 to score for all age groups (excluding U11) except senior men which is 6 to score.

Each club with athletes competing at the Championships is requested to provide a minimum of one volunteer to assist with marshaling on the day. Please advise if you are able to help out.

Sunday 11th January 2026 - Cross Country League Race 4 - Panshanger Park, Welwyn Garden City

Race Venue: Panshanger Park, Welwyn Garen City, Hertfordshire SG14 2TS.
10:30am start.

Meet at Wanstead Leisure Centre at 8.30am for car share to Panshanger Park.

Course: 8.3k. Two clockwise laps around Panshanger Park with a couple of nice hills per lap.

Surface: Grass and hard pack trails, studs or trail shoes recommended, not suitable for spikes.

Kit can be left in the HQ area. Note there are no changing rooms or shower facilities.

The entrance to Panshanger Park is on Panshanger Lane, SG14 2TS, and the what3words address is ///cult.term.bake. Panshanger Park can be accessed from the A414 heading east towards Hertford or from the B1000. The entrance to the car park is at a point where the road dips.

CCTV controlled paid parking is available, please follow the signs and obey the instructions of the car park marshals. An overflow car park is available but please car share as much as possible. Parking costs £2.50 for up to four hours for both the main and overflow car parks. Two machines are available or you can purchase a ticket using the RingGo or PayByPhone apps (location 687484).
Toilets: Three toilets are available in the car park area.


Please be mindful that this is a public park and we therefore share it with many other users, particularly dog walkers.

First aid will be present. Please report any issues to the nearest marshal who will assist. Please do not run if you feel unwell or have any injuries.

This race is free to all members of East London Runners. Turn up on the day to run. No pre race entry required. So that we can get an idea of numbers, please add your name to race entries or email info@eastlondonrunners.org.uk, if you are going to run.

Winter Leagues Captains

Saturday 24th January 2026 - Southern Main Cross Country Championships - Beckenham Place Park, Beckenham, Kent BR3 1SY.

We are taking entries for the SEAA XC Championships at Beckenham Place Park, on Saturday 24th January 2026.

Senior Women: 8,000M (4 to score).
Senior Men: 15,000M (6 to score).
Start times tbc.

Open to all first claim members of East London Runners. There is a cut off time of 90 minutes for the men’s race. Club colours must be worn.

Chip timing will be used.

Sunday 1st February 2026 - ELR Winter Handicap Race - Mill Plain, top of Chelmsford Road, South Woodford - 10.00am prompt start.

This is an ELR 5 mile cross country handicap race in Epping Forest. Your handicap will be calculated based on your recent 5K time. The slowest runners start first and the fast runners start last, therefore anyone could be first to the finish line!

The start will be at 10.00am prompt.
Location: Mill Plain, top of Chelmsford Road, South Woodford.

We need volunteers (marshals and people for the course set up), as well as plenty of runners. Please add your name to race entries, or email info@eastlondonrunners.org.uk if you would like to take part on the day. Trail shoes or cross country studs are strongly recommended if you are running.
